Below are some common questions regarding participation in Singapore.

The NFM in Singapore

What is the route distance?

The distance is 30km on good path or dirt road. The recommended route is an “out and back” route.

What is the load requirement?

The load requirement is a weight of 11kg carried in a rucksack or backpack. SVs will be required to use their assault bags.

The operating temperature requirement for NFM is less than 25 celsius. How will this be run in Singapore?

The organisers have written in to the official Norwegian representatives in Singapore requesting a special dispensation to run the event in Singapore’s climate.

What is the attire requirements?

Participant SVs will be required to wear long pants and military grade boots. Long pants are civilian pants.

What will the NFM route be in Singapore?

This is still being worked out. Once this has been approved, it will be published here.

Do I need to train for this?

Yes, you will need to prepare and train for this like any other endurance activity. This can be your own plan or you can use our recommended Training Plan. You will also need to take part in Qualifying events to be eligible to take part on march day.

Safety

Who is liable if something happens during the march?

The march is an informal and voluntary gathering of individual SVs. As such, you assume the necessary liability by participating in these hikes. Please make sure you have the necessary health and accident coverage if you need it.

What safety measures are implemented during the march?

We will be submitting a safety plan to the Norwegian representative in Singapore for their approval. These will be shared once approval has been obtained.
