8 JUL 1854

Singapore Rifle Corps established.

DEC 1887

Singapore Rifle Corps disbanded.

FEB 1888

Singapore Volunteer Artillery established.

1901

Singapore Volunteer Artillery Corps becomes the Singapore Volunteer Corps.

15 FEB 1915

Deployed in the Sepoy Mutiny of 1915. 11 dead volunteers.

1922

Reorganised into the Straits Settlement Volunteer Force. The SVC forms the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the newly formed SSVF.

15 FEB 1942

Fall of Singapore.

1948-1960

Deployed during the Malayan Emergency.

1949

Singapore Volunteer Corps reinstated.

1954

SSVF disbanded. SVC absorbed into the Singapore Military Forces.

1963-1966

Deployed during the Konfrontasi.

1965

People's Defence Force Act. SVC renamed the People's Defence Force and abosrbed into the Singapore Armed Forces.

MAR 1984

101 PDF, the last volunteer battalion, is disbanded.

15 FEB 2015

The SAF Volunteer Corps formed.
