| Left G. Pouch | 1x Swiss Army Knife/SOG Tool | Sharp. Know how to open and close your knife safely. The SOG issued is usually the only type permitted in camp. |
| Left G. Pouch | 1x Whistle | Issued one is breakable. A small brass one is more durable while a storm whistle is louder. Black tape it if you upgrade to something more shiny or colourful. |
| Left G. Pouch | 1x ear plugs | Use the ones connected to each other with cord so they can loop through your collar eyehole. |

| Right M. Pouch | 1x Writing Kit | Replace issued one with a waterproof notebook with permanent marker pen. Pilot Twin Markers ideal. |
| Right M. Pouch | 1x wet wipes | Camo Wipes good for getting camo off. Avoid scented wipes. |
| Right G. Pouch | 1x insect repellent | Apply only to clothes and not directly to skin. Super effective, odourless and no need to upgrade. |
| Right G. Pouch | 1 set camo cream | 1 tube of green, 1 tube of black. Suggest an extra set if you sweat a lot. Green used more. |

| 3 | 2x SAF combat socks | Black or green as issued. Darn Tough do a nice combat sock that avoids blisters. |
| 4 | 1x foot powder in container | Seal it up with black tape to avoid spillage. More useful is a small dry bag with foot powder. Some prefer Prickly Heat but the SAF version is more cooling. |
| 4 | 1x toilet paper roll | Take out the cardboard roll and compress. Camping stores have pre-compressed toilet rolls. |
| 4 | 1x SAF disposable pre-soap spong | Can fit 3-4 into one packet and is pretty much weightless. |
| 4 | 1x toothpaste | Bring your own or everyone's favourite Darlie tooth paste brand. |
| 4 | 1x toothbrush | Remember, electric toothbrushes aren't tactical. |
| 4 | 1x shaving kit | Issued one not great, suggest to ugprade to your choice of shaver. Electric shaver not very tactical. |
| 5 | 2x AA size batteries | Check if charged. Black tape together for better storage. |

| 5 | 1x lighter | Can't go wrong with BIC lighters. Black tape the nozzle to avoid gas leakage. "Wind proof" and storm lighters never seem to last as long as a BIC. |
| 5 | 1x sewing kit | Make sure it's complete with some No.4 pattern fabric. |
| 5 | 1x black tape | Squash it or roll it around an old credit card for a lower profile. Nitto brand is a good alternative that is durable. |
| 5 | 6x tea candles | Not a standard item anymore. |
| 5 | 1x Kiwi and brush | What's issued isn't Kiwi. Treat yourself right and get a proper tin of Kiwi. |
| 6 | 1x mess tin | Make sure it's clean and brillo'd clean. |
| 6 | 1x SAF green mug | Make sure it's clean, undamaged and not funky smelling. |
| 6 | 1x fork and spoon | You weren't trusted with a knife, so get a fork, knife, spoon set that connects to itself if you want to be useful. |
| 7 | 1x sandals/slippers | Check buckles for wear and tear. |
| 8 | 1x individual range card | |
| 8 | 1x black marker | Get a decent waterproof one like the Stabilo OHP Permanent Marker. |
| 8 | 4x Arc of Fire sticks | Should keep it in the field pack strapped under the internal webbing. |
