Here are some of the more common questions about participate in our training.
Who can join SV Dragons?
All SVs are welcomed to join SV Dragons, however SV dragons is a tightly knitted community targeted to forge closer bonds within the SVs. Registration can be completed through the link given.
I heard that dragonboating is very tough, I've never done dragonboating previously, and I'm not the most physically fit. Can I still join?
Definitely! Regardless of your proficiency level, we welcome every SV to join. All of our members had different starting points in terms of fitness and proficiency, and progressed through consistent training. Our only criterion for participants is enthusiasm!
I don't know how to swim, can I still join?
Yes! While it is good to have, swimming proficiency is not a criterion as all paddlers are mandated to don the PFD.
I have a past injury on my back, can I still attend?
Sure! However, do seek the advice and clearance from your own physician if you are unsure. Please do let us know in advance as well so we can keep a lookout for you!
Do I need my own paddle and PFD?
We do have in-house paddles and Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) as well, but these are limited in stock. It would be great if you can bring your own!
I don’t know which side is my paddling side.
Not to worry, we will let you try both sides and you can assess which side you are more comfortable in. We encourage everyone to train on both sides so as to maintain balance in your physique.
Are there any showering facilities?
Yes, there are showering facilities you can use for a quick rinse. However, you will need to bring your toiletries.
If I’m driving, is there any car parking available?
Yes, however it’s only a limited number of car park space.
Do we still have training if it rains?
Scheduled training will proceed so long as there is no CAT1 warning at 0600. However, if CAT1 warning is announced during training, the team will transition to land training instead.
